Transportation Security Administration - TSA

The Transportation Security Administration is responsible for checking and screening all air travelers at St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport.

Security procedures include carry-on baggage screening, checked baggage screening, pat-down screening, and screening via technology.

Screening Procedures

Passengers need to remove the cloth, such as jackets, coats, shoes, belts, scarfs, etc. Besides, their pockets must be empty. Metal belongings and electronic devices should be placed on a separate tray for X-ray screening.

Passengers are allowed to bring a quart-sized bag for aerosols, gels, liquids, creams, and pastes. But, there are some rules regarding liquids. It is a must to use travel-sized containers no more than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters). Liquids and similar items should be placed in a small bag and sent for screening.

Meanwhile, the traveling public undergoes screening via millimeter, which is an advanced imaging technology that safely checks passengers. There is no physical contact for metallic threats, such as explosives and weapons, which may be covered under clothing.
